Digestive Tract Paralysis Awareness Month

More than ten years ago, the observance of Digestive Tract Paralysis (DTP) Awareness Month underwent a transformation from Gastroparesis Awareness Week. The decision to extend the duration of the awareness initiative was driven by the recognition that a mere seven days did not provide sufficient time to generate the necessary awareness for this chronic gastrointestinal (GI) disorder. Moreover, the extended duration allowed for the inclusion of other conditions characterized by digestive paralysis, such as Colonic Inertia (CI), Gastroparesis (GP), and Chronic Intestinal Pseudo-Obstruction (CIPO), within the awareness platform.
